While My Ukulele Gently Weeps....?

Sounds dubious, but actually quite awesome. Linked to me by [info]viennabelle--Virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro! This guy is really incredible. Proof that ukulele is not, in fact, as it was recently put to me, "guitar for lazy people".

*In Which My Schedule Implodes*

Too many July events that I was planning to attend have all landed on the same day-- tomorrow >_____< And it being a Saturday, and me having to work at night...yeah, me getting to all of them just isn't happening. So now, in addition to the St. Trinian's screening, I have to choose between:

* Philadelphia Record Fair
* Punk Rock Flea Market
* Bastille Day @ Eastern State Penitentiary

Argh! I really wish this stuff had been spaced out more evenly. Most of the time I have nothing to do, and when I do find a reason to go out, this mess happens O_o It's a hard call, but given my renewed mania for vinyl, I think I'm going to have to opt for RECORD FAIR!!! Forty vendors, and the admission is free after initial paid two-hour early opening. I'm not feeling all that competitive, so I have no problem with letting the hardcore collectors get their pilfering out of the way before I show up. I just want a couple of nice, leisurely hours of browsing. I can go straight from there to the movie, then home for dinner and a nap before work. And Sunday I can sleep ALL DAY. No, wait, have to do laundry again. Damn! Alright, I can sleep MOST OF THE DAY. Good enough.

BBC's 2009 Emma Trailer

The BBC's website now has a list and trailers of upcoming programs HERE, including the 2009 adaptation of Emma and an interesting-looking 18th century legal drama called Garrow's Law starting Andrew Buchan (Jem Hearn in Cranford, St. John Rivers in Jane Eyre) and Alun Armstrong (Inspector Bucket in Bleak House).

Mother in 1966

I just love this image of her (in the front), it's my favorite although a tad insulting. I placed it under a cut for those who don't like profanity. This is her in 1966.

Oh Comic Geekdom, How Do I Love Thee...?

Home for a lunch break. Before I head back out (once I've decided which record store I'm going to today), I had to post this tee I just picked up at Target (where else?). It is covered in panels from hilariously angst-ridden Marvel Silver Age romance comics. The quotes are priceless. "I simply haven't met a boy that interests me! And until I do, I'd rather walk alone that date just anyone!" I wish these never died out, they always give me a chuckle. But the last really good Marvel Romance was the early run of Dazzler, and that book ended with a ruinous revamp years ago...

I'm getting sidetracked onto an unintended comics rant, so I'm going to stop. Anyway, shirt!

Draco Malfoy = my ultimate love. I love how nasty he is to everyone, I love how isolated he becomes and as he confronts Dumbledore his vulnerability breaks my heart. I seem to have a thing for mean/'tortured' people, which is kind of worrying. Gah, I just love him so, so much.

Not quite in the same league as Draco, but I love Harry Goldfarb (Requiem for a Dream). Although the film is good, the book shows more of who he is and I just love him to pieces.

Grandmother

Photo of my grandmother, circa 1928, when she was about 15 years old. I love this photo for many reasons, one of which is that the photo hanging on the wall is of my great grandfather.
